Mary's Peak Pony Club is a local chapter of the United States Pony Clubs Pony Clubs.  We are located in the Corvallis/Philomath Oregon area.   We provide opportunities for instruction and competition in English riding, horse sports and horse management for children and young adults up to 21 years of age.

The Pony Club rating system is designed to gauge the progress of each member's riding ability and horse management skills. Each member begins as an unrated member and progresses through various levels from D1 to A at their own pace. Rating tests include riding evaluations as well as written or oral evaluations. Pony club members are advised to read the Pony Club manual for their level, as well as books listed on the USPC website for further education. All tests and rulebooks can be found on the national Pony Club Website.

Pony Club members participate in a type of competitive show called a "rally". A rally, while similar in some ways to a horse show, is quite different.  Club members participate on teams and are judged not only on their riding skills but their horse management skills as well.  Parent involvement is limited to cheering them on (and of course providing lots of volunteer help) are are not allowed to give any assistance to the competitors.  This can be difficult for some parents to adjust to (but once you do, you'll love it!) but the children enjoy the opportunity to be with their team mates and put all their knowledge and skills to use.  Adult supervision is maintained by the rally organizers and members are supervised while at the rally.  Rallies are a fun as well as important part of your Pony Club experience.  Our club eagerly participates in regional rallies.  The Oregon Region typically offers rallies in dressage, show jumping, Quiz (a knowledge contest), and eventing. Other horse sports offered by Pony Club in general are vaulting, polocross, games and foxhunting.

Our club meets for mounted meetings on the first and third Sunday afternoon of the month.  The second Friday evening of the month is our unmounted meeting.  Our members range in age from 7 to 19 with rating levels from Unrated to C3.  Currently we have twelve members and are growing!  We believe that attendance at meetings is vital for the club.  To be a member in good standing (so you can rate and rally) you must attend 50% of the mounted meetings and 50% of the unmounted meetings.

Members need to have access to a horse in order to participate in mounted meetings, rallies and ratings.  The ability to trailer your horse is also necessary.
