I'm ready to join Pony Club! What do I do next?
1. You've taken the first step, you know Pony Club exists! Have you visited the national USPC website at www.ponyclub.org for basic information on Pony Club? Please look under "Forms" for the "New Member Handbook" for more information. Check out the test sheets for the different rating levels, starting at D1, to see what knowledge and skills members start out learning. 2. You will need to visit our club for one mounted meeting and one unmounted meeting to meet with the DC, observe what we do at meetings and see if we fit your needs. 3. If, after observing our meetings, you are interested in joining you will need to set up a meeting to have the DC "meet" your child's horse. This is only for safety purposes to make sure your child's mount can safely participate in club rides and activities. 4. Next, fill out the paperwork. The current year membership forms are available on the national website as are the Medical Release forms. You will also need to fill out an Oregon Region Disciplinary form which can be found on the Oregon Region website at http://oregon.ponyclub.org/ 5. Fees - You will need to pay the fees for the year at the same time you submit your paperwork. The fees for 2009 are as follows, assuming you join as of Sept. 1, 2009: National fees and dues - $105 Regional fees and dues - $35 Club dues - $15 Club Sponsor Fee (each family must have one member that is a "sponsor" or voting member) - $15 These fees cover the calendar year of 2009. 6. You've now joined Pony Club! Once the paperwork is processed by the national office you may participate in club activities. We allow a week for the paperwork to be mailed and to arrive in their office.
